Actually this film is used in firefighting training videos, and the original poster has cut off the end of this video. Both men live, and with only minor burns. They we're extremely lucky. The one gentlemen makes a huge mistake by falling into the gas because when he does so he breaks the foam blanket that is keeping the vapors of the gas from igniting. If he hadn't boken that foam layer ontop of the gas, none of this would have happened. That's why this video is used in training, to show how panicing can be very detrimental, by flailing around he casues the flare up that endangers his partner.
