My question is: If he knew what the outcome of this trick was, would he still have went through with it?

Imagine a little fairy coming up just before doing that and saying 'In a moment you are going to fall off your bike and crack your nuts' - I bet he would think 'Nah, I'll give it a go anyway, it might not happen'!;)
